Because it annoys me. I also like how you ask me to understand the reasons for this shipping, and tell me its not shipping for shipping sake..and then not give me reasons for the shipping.

I just hate shipping. It is a pointless excercise in my mind. Two characters that will never be gay, made gay in your head, for no real reason.

First, I wasn’t going to list all the reasons why I ship two characters on deaf ears, and I also assumed that you read a healthy amount of Marvel Comics and were aware of Captain America and Iron Man’s relationship that you could see how I was not just pulling this out of thin air or just shipping them together, because “~~they like OMG totally look so hott together <3 <3~~”.

Now I could just post a bunch of slashy out of context moments, but I feel that the moments in context speak of themselves. You should also know that I would never ship anything without basis in the canon and it’s blaring, so much so that when I first started reading I assumed in all honesty, that they were an actual homosexual couple.

All this is canon, I’m not reading anything more than what I was being presented with. So why do I ship them together, I ship them because they love each other and the comics seem to tease a romantic relationship with these characters.

I am not making characters gay nor do I believe that Steve Rogers or Tony Stark sexual orientation is homosexual. Because homosexuality as a sexual orientation, refers to “an enduring pattern of or disposition to experience sexual, affectional, or romantic attractions, primarily or exclusively to people of the same sex; “. They are not homosexuals based on their past relationships with people of the opposite sex, that is clear, but I believe that their relationship could become romantic in the future if it isn’t already.

Even if shipping is a pointless exercise it’s my pointless exercise. I honestly think that if it were a heterosexual couple I were shipping you wouldn’t have a problem but some how the idea of Captain America and Iron Man being together really seems to annoy you.

I swear to fuck if I have to see that stupid post about Joss Whedon being anti-feminist one more time I’m going to go apeshit.

He isn’t perfect, but before you reblog something calling him out on his “bullshit” and how he isn’t really a feminism advocate, I’m going to need you to sit down, shut the fuck up and tell me just what you know about his characters.

You know why I love Joss Whedon so fucking much? He treats his characters the same. They are real people and he doesn’t coddle his fucking audience.

Saying things like:

Anya - dead

Kendra - dead

Zoe - dead husband

Faith - various breaks with sanity

you’re completely missing the point that

Anya - died in a battle where she was treated as an equal to the men who were also fighting (which was not many because there were definitely more female characters on BtVS than male characters sorry if this somehow skews your view that Joss is unfair to them despite….what is that? Anya wasn’t asked to sit on the sidelines because she was a woman?)

Kendra - She was a vampire slayer? Everyone knows they have shortened lifespans.

Zoe - Her husband died when they were preparing for a battle? It’s not like he just died and that Joss was like I THINK I’M GOING TO DO THIS JUST TO MAKE ZOE A FUCKING WIDOW BECAUSE I’M AN ASSHOLE AND I WANT ALL YOU TWATS TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT SHE STILL MANAGED TO STAY STRONG AND DO WHAT SHE NEEDED TO DO IN THE END DESPITE WHAT HAPPENED.

Faith - Umm she accidentally killed a human and that sort of made her crazy with guilt. She was the exact opposite of Buffy in how she grew up and you’re seeing a slayer here who had to grow up with an abusive family and had to watch her Watcher be torn apart by a vampire who she was terrified of.

You’re getting pissed about characters going through things that people go through in their everyday lives and you would rather tear them down than think of the person who might be like “oh I can identify with this character and I feel like I can take something away from this.” No one is perfect. Someone always has a story. How hard is this to grasp?

I love Joss because he tries.

I love Joss because he has done more for the empowerment of female characters than most of the writers out there and you just want to spout your feminist superiority crap by acting like he is the problem instead of someone who is part of the solution.

The people who have problems with the fact that Joss Whedon treated his female characters like…dare I say it…real people (*gasp* holy shit what’s that we still can’t cope with that either?) are the people who are the real problems towards the feminist movement because they are ignoring the underlying details of what it means to be a female in Joss Whedon’s universes.

I honestly think some people are happy to just bitch about everything and you honestly have no fucking right to complain about Joss Whedon and how he writes his stuff and what he’s doing if you haven’t bothered to sit down and watch anything else he has created (I literally have no time for you and your complaints if you haven’t even watched BtVS or Angel).

I’m so over the social justice on tumblr because instead of helping said cause you are fighting for, you are just making the problem worse. Trust me, you are the problem in these instances. You are not any better than the “oppressors” when you treat people like they are scum, beneath you, and not good enough to be allowed to breathe because they don’t do things exactly the way you think they should be done.

So really…

I’m all up for a discussion on Joss Whedon’s characterizations and writing. From people who know what the fuck they are talking about. Not people who have seen one thing he has written and decide that he is horrible for doing something one way or another.

As much as I like to talk about Joss Whedon being perfect…

I know he’s not.

But you know what?

He’s trying pretty damn hard.

So you can rightly fuck off if you want to talk about him being anti-feminist. You’re just looking for a reason to complain and then rally people behind you just to make a point that looks completely stupid.
